Turns out to be two weeks before Joe makes it home. He rings me every day, and Logan has been in to check on Eden as well, so between them I’m being updated constantly. Things have warmed a little between Logan and me. I suppose I’ve dropped the attitude and he’s living with the guilt as best he can, but our brotherly bond is getting stronger again. Nothing can really break that, but it came close. I won’t forgive him for his actions but I can move on and try to move past it. Shit, it happened and I need to deal with it. Logan isn’t going anywhere and we have a company together, so we have to get along, plus I can’t imagine not having him in my life...no matter how badly I was hurt.

Eden’s recovering well. They put a plate and screws into her humerus, to mend the break and stabilize the bone and it’s in a cast. Her ribs are healing and her collarbone fracture has been set so it’s just a matter of waiting now till she’s discharged. Betty seems to think she could be home in a day or two. I plan on lending them the jet so that Eden can stretch out and not have to be cramped into a commercial airline seat. I’ve asked Joe to tell me when they’re ready to leave so I can have a driver pick them up and take them to the airport. He thinks I mean the normal airport and not the private plane airfield. I also told him that I’d take care of their flight arrangements but he has no idea what arrangements I’m making for them.

It’s the least I can do.

Eden still means something to me...despite my best efforts to forget about her and move on. It’s not happening, and if it weren’t for the kids I’d have been up in Perth myself to see her. I actually thought about taking the kids up overnight but I have a responsibility to look after Jinbarra and even though Craig and Jesse are helping, it’s a lot of work.

I spend a few days moving cattle and sending some to market. This keeps me busy enough that I don’t have time to think about Eden coming home, or who she’s coming home to. I’m not sure where we go from here, or even if she wants to talk to me again after the way I treated her. Maybe she’s better off with Ty Cooper anyway. Apparently, rumor has it, that he had the horse destroyed after the attack, and it’s about time, I reckon. That beast was a menace, and should have been euthanized well before this.

“Noah” I hear as I climb down from the SUV and I turn quickly at the quiet word, finding Eden behind me, startling with her silent approach.

“Shit Eden, don’t sneak up on me like that...I nearly had a heart attack.” I admonish as I try to slow my thundering heart.

“Sorry...um...I was in the barn.
